TRIM support for 3rd-party SSD on Yosemite 10.10.4

Apple supports 3rd-party SSD in its new update Yosemite 10.10.4 but it’s not enabled by default

Please follow this instruction to enable the TRIM support:

Save your works first because it will reboot the computer in order to complete.

1. Open Terminal

2. Type this command: sudo trimforce enable > Enter > Input your password if needed

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This tool force-enables TRIM for all relevant attached
devices, even though such devices may not have been validated for data
integrity while using TRIM. Use of this tool to enable TRIM may result in
unintended data loss or data corruption. It should not be used in a commercial
operating environment or with important data. Before using this tool, you
should back up all of your data and regularly back up data while TRIM is
enabled. This tool is provided on an “as is” basis. APPLE MAKES NO WARRANTIES,

4. Your system will immediately reboot when this is complete.
Is this OK (y/N)? y > Enter

Verify TRIM Command is enabled on Windows 7

Open the Command Prompt (Start > type in the search box “cmd” > right click on the cmd.exe and left click “Run as Administrator”)

To verify the TRIM command is enabled, type the following and press enter in the Elevated command:

fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify

The results will be as follows: DisableDeleteNotify = 1 (Windows TRIM commands are disabled) DisableDeleteNotify = 0 (Windows TRIM commands are enabled)

To enable the TRIM command, type the following and press enter in the Elevated command:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0

To disable the TRIM command, type the following and press enter in the Elevated command:

fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1
